Here is a simple math problem. If you sell one poster for $20, you make one sale. If you sell a set of three matching posters for $48, you make 2.4 times the revenue from a single transaction, and the buyer feels like they got a deal because individually those prints would cost $60. That is the power of bundling.
Product bundling is one of the easiest ways to increase your average order value without acquiring new customers. You are selling more to the people who already want to buy from you. And on platforms like Etsy, where gallery wall sets are one of the most popular search categories, bundles are not just a nice-to-have, they are expected.
Types of Bundles That Work in POD
- Gallery wall sets: 2, 3, or 5 matching prints designed to hang together. The most popular bundle format for wall art.
- Themed collections: A set of prints united by theme ("Mediterranean coastal collection", "herb garden series"). Each piece works alone but looks best together.
- Size bundles: The same design offered in multiple sizes at a discount. Appeals to buyers who want to decorate multiple rooms.
- Mix and match: Let buyers choose 3 from a collection of 10 designs. Higher perceived value and personalization.
- Starter packs: Bundle a few bestsellers from your shop as an introduction to your brand.
Pricing Your Bundles
The standard approach is to offer a 15 to 25 percent discount compared to buying items individually. A set of three prints that would cost $60 individually gets priced at $45 to $50 as a bundle. The buyer saves money, and you make more per transaction than you would from a single-item sale.
For digital downloads, you can be more aggressive because there is no additional production cost per item. A bundle of five digital prints at 40 percent off still gives you higher revenue than a single sale, and the perceived value is tremendous.
Creating Cohesive Sets
A bundle only works if the pieces look like they belong together. Random prints thrown into a set feel lazy and buyers can tell. Cohesive sets share a visual language: same color palette, same art style, same framing approach, complementary (not identical) compositions.
The easiest way to create cohesive sets is to use the same style template across different subjects. Three botanical prints in the same vintage illustration style with the same cream background and the same label typography, that is a set that sells itself.
Listing Strategy for Bundles
List each print individually AND as part of one or more bundles. This gives you maximum keyword coverage and multiple entry points. A buyer might find one print through search, love it, then discover the matching set in your shop.
For the bundle listing itself, your primary photo should show all the prints together in a gallery wall mockup. Additional photos can show each piece individually. The title should include "set" or "bundle" and the number of pieces, these are high-intent search terms.
Cross-Promote Within Your Shop
Mention bundles in your individual listing descriptions. A line like "This print is also available as part of our Mediterranean Coastal Collection, a set of three matching prints designed for a gallery wall" gives buyers a reason to explore more of your shop and potentially increase their order.
